Inga Moore

All you need do is set eyes upon Inga Moore’s version of The Secret Garden, or her abridged version of The Wind in the Willows, to understand this talented illustrator’s affection for her craft. Her artwork is a delight!

Finding information about her has proved somewhat challenging, but from what I have managed to glean from the information printed in her books and the limited online info, Inga Moore was born in Sussex, England, in 1945, and moved to Australia at the age of 7 or 8. However, she never lost her deep love for the English countryside, and returned to England in the early 80’s, settling first in London and then moving to the country, where inspiration visited and led her to create many of the beautiful books you see here. She was also a wonderful horsewoman!

She began her career in an advertising agency and so supported herself while moving into illustration with her first book being a poetry anthology, (which I think might be this one)

For some time now I have wanted to add her to my list of favorite illustrators. and am very excited to present this list of her classics for you! Enjoy!
